Children with mentors have higher rates of high school graduation and are less likely to drop out of school. They find more self-confidence, self esteem, and are able to create big goals for themselves. Additionally, studies show that behavior, attitudes, and relationships improve when a child has a Mentor. The benefits of having a mentor include: To be encouraged and empowered in personal development, being helped to identify and achieve career goals, and being helped to identify and correct gaps in generic skills and knowledge.
Benefits of Having a Mentor
- Young adults or teens can be encouraged and empowered in personal development, by getting help to identify and achieve career goals, and being held to identify as well as correct gaps in generic skills and knowledge.
- The knowledge, advice, and resources a mentor shares depends on the format and goals of a specific mentoring relationship. A mentor may share with a mentee (or protégé) information about his or her own career path, as well as provide guidance, motivation, emotional support, and role modeling.
